Many people
ask, how did you become a breeder?
Our answer
is long story, but here are the cliff notes:
After many
years of the timing not being right, on
Mother's
Day, 2004 while on our back deck, Mark
the head of
our clan, asked me to start researching
dog breeds.
Mark was
allergic to most dogs, but wanted a larger
dog, who
was good with children, like to play and
swim.
He had grown up with poodles, but really
wanted a
Lab. So as a good wife, Carol did the
research.
Enter the labradoodle.... Enter Angel!
After
combining the internet, and turning to
family
members in veterinary medicine for advice,
we found
a lovely breeder in Louisana. She had a
litter that
was born on 04-04-04. It had to be some
king of
sign. So with a prayer and high hopes, we
took a leap
of faith and purchased Angel. It was the
best
decision ever made! She changed our life.
Not only
was Mark able to breathe, but Angel was a
wonderful
dog. This got Carol thinking. It
wasn't
fair to
people in our area that their were so few
breeders of
such a great breed. Another reserach
mission
ensued. Carol went about finding out about
breeding.
Angel was 12 hours away from being spay,
when Carol
and Mark decided they would do
everything
to see if Angel would be a good dog for
breeding.
Month and
after month, test after test, Angel's
results
were terrific. She was a great dog with
great
physical
health test scores. At the time Pennhip
tested her
she had the best hip scores ever seen in a
labradoodle,
634 had been tested!
So... where
are we now? We are a small family
operated
business. Every puppy is delivered in our
home. Held
and cared for by our children ever day.
Our puppies
are well adjusted, and great with kids
because of
it. We only have two dogs, Angel and
Callie.
This is why at times there is a year between
available
puppies.
Callie is
Angel's daughter from her second
litter.
Angel will likely retire from the breeding
world in
2008. We hope Callie will take over in
2009.
Her testing is currently in progress.
